Zagato

Zagato
(Italy)

Alfa Romeo

Zagato is one of the oldest and most respected marques in automotive design. The company's roots date back to 1919. That was the year in which Ugo Zagato established the Zagato Coachworks, using the vast experience he had gained working in the aircraft industry at Ansaldo Pomillio to build cars using advanced construction techniques. In 1960, Zagato won the Italian design award, the Compasso d'Oro(Golden Compass), for the diminutive Abarth 1000. This important recognition was bestowed upon the company for the coherence of its design objectives: Individual styling which has never been influenced by passing fads. During those years, Zagato consolidated its leading position in the world of motor sports.

This is actually Fomula I race-car body, which is milled out. This is represented, or let's say, symbolizing the world we live now, this world of our modern world, which is I think we live basedon technology. We live in such a comfortable life based on technology which is started to be developed after, let's say,Industrial Revolution. But nowadays the more technology gets advanced-you know technology has both positive and negative aspects. This technology actually created all the weapon-let's say,you know nuclear technology---.We have so much energy to consume but at the meantime it created weapon which gives up serious,dangerous---nowadays.In this object now we have to put a bird here. The bird is represented dynamism of human being ---dynamism is not just to move fast. It's a spirit we'd llike to live always positive way, better way...this spirit.Fomula I is a symbol of technology, goes faster and faster... We have to have courage even liaving such comfortable modern life...to go even faster,to go forward. This is the message very often we discuss with Mr.Zagato how we contribute to make our life better. So we gave this massage into this project. This is the concept we'd like to develop.
