Life in all its phases of development is inseparably linked with movement and mobility. Inquisitiveness gives us the drive for journeys. New environments are created, threatened ones abandoned. Life is a continuous search for optimal conditions. Every house or nest is essential for the safety and security which generates the source of energy to create and face new challenges. Our birdhouse embodies the synthesis of security and movement. It offers the occupier protection. The nest, which stands on long stilt like legs, fully encapsulates the inhabitants. It is impossible for any foe to scale these legs. In this form and configuration the nest is fully accepted as a shelter. At the same time it offers the chance to journey, to discover new terrain, travelling in the sky through the birds original medium. What for an individual may be the fulfillment of the urge for freedom and adventure, is in reality the possibility of survival for this race. Today technology can be seen as a threat to many lifeforms. The use of technology however is also the only chance of survival. The concept of our birdhouse is on the one hand simple, but on the other hand unique in form and function. On the underside of the nest is the earth interface, while above is situated the sky interface. The earth interface holds the nest steadfast and therein contains the landing gear. The first ground contact of a rearward hanging sensor automatically activates the release of landing gear legs, thus ensuring a safe touch down. The sky interface forms the connection to a balloon. As this baloon is partially transparent, it allows even the first sun rays to warm the air within the canopy so simoultaniously initiating a gradual and natural inflation of the baloon itself. As the baloon lifts off the landing gear retracts. The inhabitants of the nest craft are once again underway discovering new destinations and experiences. In the evening as the air cools, so the nest descends and lands. Another stage of lives endless journey has been accomplished. In this way our birdhouse is also a symbol for mankind. The planet earth has been mastered and contains hardly any secrets for us. Soon it will be too small for us, obliging mankind to set out on new journeys, to further colonies our galaxy. People will embark once more in arks for far distant planets - a journey in to the unknown, allied to the greatest adventure. Indeed it will only be the offspring of those initiators of the journey, who will actually arrive at the journeys destination. The travellors will have to set and face huge challenges, if they are to bag the bounty, namely the survival of mankind.
